Sapphire is a precious gemstone and a variety of the mineral corundum (aluminum oxide). Renowned for its exceptional durability and vibrant colors, it is one of the most desirable traditional gemstones in the world. While famously associated with a deep, velvety blue, sapphires actually occur in a spectacular spectrum of colors.

Contrary to popular belief, sapphires come in almost every color of the rainbow—with one notable exception:
